Alexander dei Tharsicus, a disgruntled ex-Imperial Navy Vice-Commander at only twenty-eight, finds himself behind bars at Fort Stygian, the Solar Empire’s most inexorable prison. Orphaned at a young age and with his wife buried six feet underground, Alexander is glad to rot the rest of his life away.
Purpose floods back into his heart only when Selene dei Solvator—the Imperial Princess and fellow inmate—reveals something inexplicable: Alexander’s long-dead mother is still alive.

“Alexander's perseverance made me feel motivated even when there appeared little hope left. Reading Solborn, I enjoyed learning about interesting characters like Julian, Eryx and Miraen. A risky trip to a frozen moon was one of the many adventures I was excited about. I was frightened by the Sentari, but thrilled by the mystery. Alexander's journey through the solar system and the world of Solborn inspired me to read more science fiction.”
As turmoil brews across the Outer Belt and the Elysian Throne begins to fracture, Alexander must face his tumultuous past in order to reach his mother before it’s too late—but once he uncovers the truth of his origins, the very foundations of the Solar Empire are bound to crumble.
Will Alexander be able to save her in time, or will he lose himself in the process?
